Terms of use

These terms cover what you can expect when you use Rust Player Count.

The site comes as it is. Player counts, server names, wipe times and settings are read every five minutes from the public Rust server list and from servers directly. A server can report a wipe late, publish a misleading name, or return a count that lags. Treat every figure as a snapshot taken at its last refresh, not a guarantee.

Browsing the site. You can compare servers without an account or a payment. Do not send rapid automated requests at the pages; that slows the site for other players. If you need the full dataset, email hello@rustplayercount.xyz and we will work something out.

Crawlers. Search engines, bots and AI crawlers may read the site. Check robots.txt and llms.txt first, as they set out what lives where. Keep your request rate low enough that ordinary visitors still get fast pages.

Server owners. A server appears here because it is on the public list. Its page shows what the server itself publishes: name, tags, wipe schedule, player slots, map. To change what is displayed, change it on the server. Most edits appear within five minutes.

Independence. Rust Player Count is not connected with Facepunch Studios. Rust is a trademark of Facepunch Studios.

Changes to these terms. These terms may change. The date below shows when they last did, and continuing to use the site after that means you accept the current version.

Questions

Can I use Rust Player Count data in my own project?

The figures are read from public server queries and Steam's public list, and we are happy to talk about bulk access. Email hello@rustplayercount.xyz with what you need and how often you would refresh it, and we will sort something out. Do not scrape the pages at a rate that slows them for other visitors.

Why does a server's page show different numbers from the server itself?

Every server page is a snapshot from the last refresh, which happens every five minutes. A server can change its name, wipe time or player count in between, and some servers report late. Check the refresh time shown with the figure before you rely on it.

How does a server get listed on Rust Player Count?

A server is listed because it appears on the public Rust server list that the site reads. The details shown come straight from what the server publishes, so the way to change them is to change them on the server. Most edits are picked up within five minutes.
